(March 25) ATLANTA – Ed Coriell of Birmingham, Ala., added to his string of 2007 awards by being named this year’s Robert Nourse “Chair of the Year,” one of the highest honors bestowed upon a Vistage Chair. Ed received his special wall plaque at the culmination of an awards banquet held last evening at The River Room in Atlanta's Post Riverside Town Square.
“This is a real testimony to my Birmingham members and the folks in Atlanta and San Diego that have supported me along my path and for that, I am truly grateful,” he said upon receiving the award for his outstanding work.
Ed has been a Chair in the Birmingham area for the past 11 years and is one of 325 active Chairs in the United States. In 2007, he consistently ranked among the Top 20 Chairs for performance, recruitment and retention.

Ed was joined by his wife of 42 years, Pam, to receive his award during an evening of Chair awards and fellowship hosted by Greg Wells and Atlanta Best Practice Chair Jansen Chazanof. In addition to the Nourse Award, this year Ed was among a select group of Chairs to receive Chair Excellence, Master Chair and STAR awards for outstanding performance in a variety of categories.
Others in attendance to receive their awards included Tim Shaver and Beth Miller, Rookies of the Year; Gary Anderson, Tim Fulton and Larry Hart, Chair Excellence; . Gary Anderson and Larry Hart, Master Chair; Larry Hart, STAR Award.
The Nourse Award was established in 2005 to help commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Robert Nourse, the founder of The Executive Committee, which later changed its name to Vistage, headquartered in San Diego. The highly competitive award is open to all active San Diego-supported Chairs with 100 or more members, and the winner is chosen by committee based on how well they exemplify the qualities, attributes and values of Vistage.
The unique award is known as The Ascent to commemorate the Chair’s commitment to the philosophy “They climb highest who lift as they go.”
