Vistage International Corporate Challenge Raises $15,000 for Medical Research
San Diego, September 24, 2007 – Vistage International, the world’s leading chief executive organization, headquartered in San Diego, today donated $15,000 to The Burnham Institute for Medical Research. The Burnham Institute is located in La Jolla and is dedicated to basic biomedical research.
Rafael Pastor, Vistage chairman of the board and CEO, presented the check to Dr. John C. Reed, CEO of the Burnham Institute. The funds were raised through the participation of Vistage employees in the 2007 Corporate Challenge. This year, Vistage challenged employees to run the EAS America’s Finest City Half-Marathon and 5km race in San Diego on August 19, 2007. Team Vistage, which consisted of twelve Vistage employees, including two executives, as well as family and friends ran, jogged or walked on race day.
"We’re happy to be able to support a local charity that has the ability to reach and affect so many around the world," said Pastor.

The team began training in preparation for the race last April. As race day drew closer, they began training longer distances on Saturday mornings. Vistage employees also volunteered to man water stations and provide moral support along the training routes.
"The team wasn’t just the runners. It seemed like everyone at Vistage participated in the Corporate Challenge in one way or another," said Vistage Team Captain Janice McKinley. "We had the opportunity to accomplish something big with employees from throughout our company raising money for a good cause and getting in shape."
The team also visited The Burnham Institute on a lunch-hour to see how the funds they raised would support the valuable medical research taking place there.
"We greatly appreciate the generosity of Vistage staff, family and friends," said Dr. John C. Reed, president and CEO of The Burnham Institute for Medical Research. "The efforts of Team Vistage will result in greater opportunities for patients to benefit from our advanced medical research."
The check presentation took place at Vistage Headquarters, 11452 El Camino Real, Suite 400, on Tuesday, September 25, 2007.
